Flipper Zero Dual-Band 2.4/5GHz WiFi Devboard (RTL8720DN)

Plug-and-play dual-band 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi devboard for Flipper Zero powered by the Realtek RTL8720DN (BW16) module and pre-flashed with 5G deauther firmware.

01Snapshot

The Flipper Zero Dual-Band 2.4G & 5G WiFi Devboard integrates the Realtek RTL8720DN (BW16) SoC directly onto the Flipper Zero GPIO header. Pre-flashed with specialized 5GHz WiFi deauther firmware, this expansion board bridges the gap for 5GHz network analysis and auditing without requiring external computer setups or manual firmware flashing out of the box.

02Standout features

  • Dual-Band Support: Native 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency band capability via BW16 module.
  • Pre-Flashed Firmware: Out-of-the-box 5G WiFi deauther operational state.
  • Direct GPIO Integration: Plugs seamlessly into standard Flipper Zero header pinout.
  • Low Power Consumption: Optimized for handheld field operations powered directly from the host pin header.

03Under the hood

At the core of the module sits the Realtek RTL8720DN (BW16), a dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 5.0) core. Communicating via serial UART over the GPIO header, the module executes firmware routines directly on-chip, minimizing CPU overhead on the main Flipper device while performing frame injection and wireless frame analysis across both standard bands.

04Real-world use

Designed for wireless security auditors and penetration testers needing 5 GHz packet injection capabilities in a portable form factor. It enables on-site validation of 802.11a/n network resilience, target authentication drop tests, and dual-band IoT device behavior monitoring without lugging bulky laptops or external network cards into the field.

05Setup in 60 seconds

  1. Align the devboard headers with the GPIO slot on top of the Flipper Zero.
  2. Push firmly until seated across all pins.
  3. Power on the Flipper Zero and launch the UART Terminal or custom app interface for the module.
  4. Select target access point parameters and execute dual-band audit routines.

06Good to know

Ensure your Flipper Zero firmware supports UART communications at the module's default baud rate. While pre-flashed with deauther firmware, the onboard RTL8720DN can also be re-flashed using standard USB-to-UART bridges for custom IoT software development using Arduino IDE or Realtek SDKs.

07Verdict

An essential upgrade for security researchers requiring compact 5 GHz auditing power. The pre-flashed RTL8720DN devboard turns your Flipper Zero into a versatile dual-band testing tool at ₹3999.
